Our relationship with SOREDI goes way back, since we both focus on providing services that help local business owners and operators thrive (they provide the business expertise, and we provide the technology expertise). You could say we’re like peanut butter and jelly — but maybe less perishable and more supportive.
What is SOREDI?
SOREDI (Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc.) is a local nonprofit organization with a mission to help businesses prosper and advance economic opportunities. They do this by providing funding, business counseling, mentorship, and educational resources to both new and established businesses.
Their vision: innovative businesses thriving in vibrant communities in Jackson and Josephine Counties.

Whether a company was started here locally or has origins across the world, each featured company has roots in Southern Oregon and contributes to our region’s economic vitality. Tekmanagement’s mission as a company is to work alongside businesses to provide secure IT support and infrastructure so that business owners and employees don’t have to worry about their technology. Tekmanagement keeps everything up-to-date and secure—a valuable service amidst constantly increasing cyber threats. Fast-paced companies dependent on the ability to use phones and computers can lose millions of dollars when technology is down for even an hour.
Grateful clients become permanent clientele, and for someone like Scott, who considers customer retention Tekmanagement’s largest success, this means that the company has to be a “champion of technology,” and keep on top of the latest trends. Tekmanagement’s staff, certified in various tech industries, follow a life-long learning principle, consistently educating themselves on the use of rapidly evolving devices that people employ in their companies.
Tekmanagement searches for employees with technical certificates, but also industry experience and a willingness to learn. Plus, Scott also mentions the company’s focus on work-life balance, discussing how there are amazing things to do, just outside the door.
“Living in Southern Oregon is like camping, except you have your house. We want folks to work here long-term,” says Scott. “So, we try to have some fun too.”
What makes Southern Oregon a great place to do business?
Aside from the excellent IT assistance available (wink, wink), Southern Oregon benefits from business resources like the Jackson County Chamber leadership program, Southern Oregon University, Southern Oregon Small Business Development Center, and —of course — SOREDI.
And we’re also big fans of the exceptional small-town festivities and recreational opportunities. This June, we’ll be sponsoring SOREDI’s annual celebration event at Hellgate Jetboat Excursions in Grants Pass. Technology and water may not go hand-in-hand (that’s what dry bags are for!), but enjoying Southern Oregon’s river-touring opportunities with other member businesses certainly does.
