Based on PCI declaring SSL not fit for use where “strong cryptography” is needed it looks like our online https transactions may not be secure either if they are SSL based. A recommendation is to use TLS 1.2 for secure https sessions, How do you know if your browser session is secure?
- Internet Explorer 8-11 can display the protocol version information (expand the Page menu then click on Properties).
- Chrome can display the version. Click on the padlock icon (on the left of the URL); a popup appears, which contains some details, including the protocol version
- Opera shows the protocol version in a way similar to Chrome: click on the padlock icon, then click on the “Details” button
- Firefox does not give access to the version information of TLS.
